As you are aware, in the current economic climate, many conferences have suffered a drop in submissions this year. Unfortunately ICARIS was not an exception to this and we have not received the volume of submissions that we feel is sufficient to run a conference of the high quality and standard that you expect from ICARIS over three days.
However, we have been offered an exciting opportunity to join forces with ECAL 2013 – the European Conference on Artificial Life, and of the foremost international conferences on Artificial Life in this area. This would enable all ICARIS attendees to benefit from joining a much larger ALife community, present their work to a much wider audience, and attend a broad variety of sessions. The conference will host 19 tracks, 12 workshops and 5 tutorials this year and provides a very exciting opportunity for all ICARIS participants, whether from an immunology or engineering background, to present their work in a truly interdisciplinary setting. The conference takes places in Taormina, Sicily from 2nd-6th September.
Key Information for ECAL Submission:
The website for ECAL is available at the following location: http://www.dmi.unict.it/ecal2013/ecal.php, 2-6 September 2013, Taormina, Italy.
All current ICARIS authors can submit their research works into the ICARIS 2013 Track of ECAL:
Every accepted full-paper and abstract submitted to the ECAL 2013 conference will be published by MIT Press in a single online open-access proceedings volume. Moreover, the top 8 accepted publications will have the opportunity to publish a revised and expanded version of their conference paper in the Artificial Life journal.
Submissions to this track will be accepted in lncs format, but will be asked to update to MIT Press format for camera ready versions.
Many apologies for any inconvenience caused, and if you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact one of the conference chairs for either ICARIS or ECAL.
